We started from Surrey, BC in March 2006 with 2 resources - our journey has been just great. Today with India Development center via its affiliate DDSSL, Drupaldesigns has access to 56 resources making Drupaldesigns having one of the largest Drupal resource pool in the world.
Drupaldesigns is on move again - OpenKickTechnologies - a subsidiary of DDSSL. OpenKick has secured office space in Ahmedabad, India and will commence operations from 1 April 2008 aimed to provide
training in Drupal, RoR and Linux Admin in Ahmedabad, India. We are looking to hire Sr. Faculty from Universities to lead this division. DDSSL Team will undertake "Train the Trainer" approach to train first set of faculty before 1st April 2008.
"There are thousands of interactive agencies and development shops who are looking to jump the Drupal and RoR Bandwagon but are strapped with resources. They can't afford North American rates, but also need some very solid dedicated but trained resources at low cost who they can manage and drive. OpenKick technologies aims to be a boon for the Entrepreneurs. Client decides the salaries of the offshore employees, interviews and hires them(loaned by OpenKick), gets free replacements, gets infrastrucuture, etc - OpenKick just charges an additional overhead of $15 to 17/hr per resource for infrastructure, management support, ongoing training, medical insurance, payroll and administration."
Even considering decent salaries, company can look at a target rate of $25-27/hr( can be $22-25/hr for jr resource) for a trained resource which is 1/3rd of hiring a contractor in US. For entrepreneur or start-up, its even better as they don't have to deal with areas of Employment Insurance, CPP, WCB etc. All resources will be managed under OpenKick Technologies.
Once Company gets going, Drupaldesigns can also help them get officially registered as an independent business in India , help them find a facility and infrastructure of their own, advise them on 100% corporate Tax exemption for 2 years(likely to be extended for another 5 years) by registering their business under SEZ. Their existing resources can also be transferred over to their new divisions for one time fee of $10,000 per resource.
